Tribute to Female Tattoo Artists
Women have struggled to break into the traditionally male dominated tattoo art field. This is only beginning to change with 25% of tattoo artists in the world being female. Each woman who breaks the barriers is a hero in every sense.
This piece demonstrates the various types of tattoos, both traditional and modern, that are seen today and was created to raise awareness of the issues women face and the high level of artistic skills they bring to the work. My use of tiny ceramic tiles was intentional to represent the precision of the ink work involved in creating a tattoo.
